summer's scent

This is the unassuming flower of the common privet.  Our huge unclipped hedges are laden with this blossom every year and the air is filled with its scent. I love it, it is the essence of summer for me. 

A busy day of changeable weather, alternate blazing sunshine and misty rain. 

This evening a sad farewell to an old friend. A young single dad who leaves behind two teenage daughters. Life's just not fair sometimes.
