1938
All the containers in this photo have a note inside or on the bottom that says purchased in 1938 as recorded by my mother. The two little bars of soap have the the dates of 1945 and 1952 written on them. The one on the left is from Richmond (VA) hotels, and the one on the right from Fontana Village where we took a family vacation in the NC mountains. The cabins at Fontana were the ones used by the workers when Fontana Dam was constructed from 1942 - 1944. My mother was good at keeping records. The measuring cup has fourths on one side ("one fourth") in raised letters, and thirds on the other side. Notice one of the glass salt and pepper shakers had a painted black lid on the pepper so it was easier to identify. I don't know or remember the primary use of the largest container - maybe sugar.
