Aldwark Toll Bridge

This is Aldwark Toll Bridge which crosses the River Ure. It costs 40p to cross and saves a 25 mile trip to the next crossing. The very cheerful toll collector told me that the original bridge was built in 1772 but was destroyed (I read on the 'net that it was hit by an iceburg!?) and the bridge that now stands was built in 1856.
If you google "Aldwark Toll Bridge" there is a clip on YouTube which shows the crossing by car over the narrow, wood planked bridge. I don't have the "know how" to give a link.
