At home you use a spin-dryer to get water out of your laundry before you put it in the tumble-dryer (or hang it outside).
This is a lube oil separator.
We use it to remove water out of the lubricating oil of the steam turbine.
It works with centrifugal force; a bowl inside rotates at a very high speed, and the more heavy parts in the oil (water) move to the outer side of the bowl and disappear at the top.
