Les Chuchoteuses

Breakfast lounging around in our own kitchen! No need to get up and get dressed! A slow start! Rain, so an exploration of the underground city of Montreal! There are huge underground passages linking various shopping areas of the city for when the weather is too hot or too cold!

Our hotel is near the 'Complexe Desjardins' - a huge hall structure on two or three levels with shops etc. We followed the passages and out in China Town where we bought two umbrellas! I have a lovely pink one! From there to the 'Basilique Notre-Dame de Montreal'. A fantastic place! Blue lighting with the most wonderful statues and painted pillars etc. We spent ages trying to get good shots in the low light! Not many good ones I fear. But so beautiful!

From there we walked around the old town Rue Saint Paul to Place Jacques Cartier where big drops suddenly started falling so into a cafe for food! We sat in a covered terrace and had a relaxed lunch! The young lady serving was from Bordeaux in France and has been here for three years and loves it! I had a crème brûlée with a wonderfully crisp caramel!

We stopped at a neighbouring shop that sold Inuit carvings among other things. They are so wonderful. Especially the Bears dancing. The Inuits believe in reincarnation and many want to come back as polar bears, these being the most powerful of the Arctic animals.

We walked on to see the coloured windows of the Palace of Congress, again amazing huge halls etc and we were back in the underground system. We carried on to where the museum of contemporary art is, but we knew that unfortunately for us it was closed on Mondays!

Back to the hotel where our washing is churning round. Another perk of the hotel!

I chose this street art:Les Chuchoteuses (Rose-Aimée Bélanger). Which could be translated as the whisperers or even the gossips! Links of communication! For Mono Monday - Link. Many thanks to Skeena for hosting!
