Diades catalanes

Thuir had one of its largest festivals today. In the afternoon there were various 'giants' parading throughout the town accompanied by musicians , from Thuir and other Catalan towns and villages. The real fun is in the evening when they have a number of 'beasties' with fireworks attached that twist around letting them off , initially on the crowded streets but later in a big display in the square. We were a little too close for comfort for one of the displays on the street! 
I'm backblipping this from a hotel in carcassone on monday 25th.  We were supposed to drive to near La rochelle today on our way home but unfortunately the car has had problems so we're waiting for it to be sorted. Hopefully we'll continue our journey tomorrow, but meanwhile we'll enjoy the view from the balcony (which will be blipped for the 25th!)
