The Aliens Have Landed!

Managed a slightly longer walk with Finlay today - taking in the little woods known as "Whin Covert". Passing through there I saw this weird contraption which I thought looked like a primitive rocket ship!

Reality check....I do believe it is a sort of home made feeder for birds, probably pheasants or partridges of which there are plenty in this little wood. The 'rocket nozzle' at the bottom is a little metal coil - I think the birds peck at this to release food (there was a little bit of grain around on the ground).

Apart from finding evidence of extra-terrestrial life the day has been pretty boring.
