Blue Jay on a Dog Day

Before going away for an overnight with friends, I filled the feeders and refreshed the bird baths.  Very soon, the Blue Jays descended on the back yard and I was able to get this shot.  This is one of those shots that makes me very happy.  It is best viewed in LARGE if you want to see the feather detail.  

It was a blistering hot day, with the car thermometer reaching 99 degrees and humidity very high.  The rest of the week is supposed to be like this so I will need to get out very early while it is still tolerable.
