Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

New Month

We've had an interesting and productive first day of August.

I woke this morning to the sound of Carole King singing "The First Day of August" which is a favorite song for us during this moment in the calendar; Mr. Fun had it playing on his iPhone. A short while later we went to breakfast at the Sea Shanty, which is one of the best restaurants in Cayucos for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Then we were on our way to take the three pooches to an appointment with the local groomer, who is just the greatest. Whenever we know we are going to be coming to the Central Coast and bringing the pups, we schedule an appointment for them to be groomed. The appointment provides us with a day when they are taken care of and also with the opportunity to get them a bath and a trim.

Then we stopped in the local laundromat to wash and dry the towels we use each morning to dry the pups feet after walking them around the block and across the lawn.

Because we've had a bit of trouble getting the Internet here at the motel, we made a stop at the Cayucos Library to upload a couple blips and to check our email on our computers.

We went back to the groomers to get the pups back at 1:30 and then took a 4-mile drive south to Morro Bay to wander through one city block of thrift stores.

While we were doo-dah-ing through a thrift store we received a call from a real estate agent who was working on helping us do a walk-thru on a local Cayucos house that is for sale. So we drove back to Cayucos and had the pure delight of seeing the landscape minus the misty fog. It was just spectacular. So I managed to capture a few shots of the pier, which is one of the longest in California. A local man told us yesterday that August is so much better here than June or July and we never dreamed that the first day of the month would prove him so very right!

We've had a quiet pleasant evening and tomorrow we'll leave here and drive north through some of our favorite geography in all of the world -- the Big Sur Coastline. We'll blip tomorrow night from the Monterey Bay area.

Good night from Cayucos.
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
