Milau Viaduct
Awoke to news of the atrocities in Nice. The event today was nearly cancelled but then it was decided to go ahead and to wear our event O tops as a mark of respect on the last day.
Today was on an area described by the French world champion as one of the best and most challenging areas he has ever orienteered on. The difficulty we found was in reading the thick vegetation especially when there was a control placed in the middle of it! Slightly better run today but still making errors.
Leaving the event we took the wrong turning which turned out to be a happy accident. This route took us to an intriguing village for a lovely cup of coffee and then to explore the fortified settlement and church above.
We then stopped off at the viewpoint for the Milau viaduct which dominated the view from our Gite. Up close it was even more impressive and had been designed by British architect Norman Foster. It is the tallest bridge in the world and provides a route from Montpellier in the south to Paris. Couldn't miss having a record of this impressive structure.
