St Edmund's roof angel
The last of my Suffolk pics. There are 3 back-blips if you're interested in looking.
This was taken today in St Edmund's, the large and very beautiful church in the middle of Southwold. A fair amount - if not all - the angel roof was repaired or replaced as an exact copy in the 19th century. Most of the carved wood is plain, but over the chancel it's painted in a glorious, typically Medieval palette of colours. While we were in there someone was practising on the organ for a concert to be held this weekend (I think). The atmosphere was spine-tingling.
Thank you all so much for the hearts and stars over the last 4 days. It was wonderful to come back to. It's a bit late to start commenting now and I haven't unpacked yet, so I will catch up with your journals in the morning. And tomorrow is Friday - have a good one xx
