Vet's job
Here we have a vet dealing with a prolapse of a cow who calved several weeks ago which is unusual for it to happen now. It was not too bad and only took about half an hour to push it back with soapy water and disinfectant and then stitched up under local anaesthetic. Then a whole load of mammouth injections. The cow's movements were controlled in the cattle crush and the calf was nearby to distract it all the while. We had to get the whole herd in to separate them from the others which went straight back out again and the cow will stay in the yard for a few days with its calf to make sure of a good recovery.
A, Nigel's Canadian cousin, was really glued to all this and said it reminded her of James Heriott, quite a highlight of her stay! In the afternoon she took the train to Gatwick from where she flies out to Toronto tomorrow.
All our visitors have now left and we can get back to "normal" after the wedding!
There will be a few back blips again!
