Personal Best

Since 2007 photographer Paul Floyd Blake has been creating a series of images of young athletes. Shooting them in various situations, either kitted up or not, but specifically, not in action.

The result is a rather gentle and touching exhibition of his images at the Impressions Gallery in Bradford. Not all of them continue as athletes today, but they are still part of the project and their reasons for dropping out are just as valid as the reasons offered by those who stick at it.

The show is part of the Inspire Project, which is a part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad. It's a great exhibition.

The shot above shows a visitor looking at images of the fencer Alex Craig. She's not part of Team GB this year, but then she is only 18.
