US Holiday Day5
LA to Monterey
Big Sur, the name of the road that runs along the coast south of Monerey. There are virtually no towns or villages on the route as it cuts along the cliffs, bridging steep valleys, and producing breathtaking view after breathtaking view.
So many shots I got lost amongst them so resorted to something else, breakfast. This is an Eggslut. A glass jar with super smooth mashed potato, an egg on top and all poached to order. Once cooked chopped chives are sprinkled over the top and it is served with sourdough toasted fingers. So simple and so good. This Eggslut was in a covered food market in LA full of tasty treats, including honey coated pecans, a bag of which could be found in our luggage.
As well as the Big Sur we visited several towns including Santa Barbara and Morro Bay. The former is delightfully old fashioned and we could have spent far longer there. Morro Bay is a quite town with Morro Rock (additional picture) at one end. There is a noisy seal colony i the bay, all of them doing Harry impersonations. Strange how things remind you how much we are missing our dogs.
