Today!
I just thought a little bit of reality relating to the climate was needed after the bright and sunny shots of yesterday was needed. Unlike the countryside of England and Europe and parts of North America, what you see is a normal part of Australia's countryside for this time of year. The the green undergrowth will burn off in a few weeks once the daily temperature starts to increase. The two trees in the background are eucalyptus, locally called "gum trees". The treed area is very sparsely planted, in about a month the Rural Fire Service will commence hazard reduction, simply put they will start controlled burning of areas which pose a hazard to the community. In about three to for months the bush fire season will begin, in the picture there are two eucalyptus trees. when the dry grass surrounding the trees is fully alight the trees will atomise the oils from the trees. The vaporised oil will add to the combustion process. Photo one is about 500m from the edge of town, the extra photo is 300m from housing. So I am glad the pictures of Newcastle show a bright and sunny view of the end of winter winter, but the reality of Summer is this picture. the Extra Photo shows a little more intensive planting of trees. I should have some hot photos come summer.
