The Churchill Arms

The Prom last night was wonderful.

Booking a prom, it has to be a Saturday, and it has to be something that we would not see in Manchester or Liverpool. A tall order. But I had wondered about my sanity booking a staged version of an opera I knew nothing about, sung entirely in Russian, and for over two hours without a break. As it turned out, Mussorgsky's Boris Godunov turned out to be wonderful. Great singing, and some pretty wild music. And very Russian.

The blip is the Churchill Arms, a few doors down from our BnB. The building was built in 1750, and was frequented by Winston's grandparents. Those flowers are all real. Close inspection reveals an astonishing network of well concealed black tubes, which makes watering possible.

when I took this this morning we were on our way for a walk to Holland Park for a look around a part of London we are not familiar with. It is an astonishingly wealthy part of town.
