First appointment with the consultant today, I had to be referred because of my chronic illnesses and drug use (that sounds bad lol I always refer to my prescription medication as drugs cause well that's what they are).
First up I was weighed and the nurses were amazed that I've only put on half a kg since my booking appointment with the midwife, frankly I was amazed as well (that's a total of 1.5kg weight gain so far). Next was blood pressure which was perfectly normal, much better than when the midwife does it and they took my pot of wee to be tested.
The consultant, or rather consultant underling was very nice. First they asked if I knew why I had been referred to them which I do and then we went through medical stuff. All positive and I am OK to continue taking my painkillers, but that maybe revisited later same as my steroid cream for my eczema.
We then decided on when to have the glucose tolerance test and have decided because of my PCOS to do it at 24 weeks rather than 28, with the potential to repeat the test (PCOS means I am at a higher risk of diabetes). At my follow up with them they will then decide if I need any additional scans and monitoring.
But in the mean time I was told off for not eating enough. Apparently there were ketones in my urine which is an indication that in order to get the nutrients my body needs its been breaking it down from my fat stores as its not been getting enough through food, it can also be a sign of dehydration, which is something I have struggled with a couple of times since being pregnant. My levels weren't high enough to concern them at this stage other than telling me to eat more and I did mention that I've had a stressful few days. But I have lost my appetite and I am doing my best to eat and drink more.
So yeah weirdness of weight gain being acceptable and being told to eat more, whatever next, I could get used to this :D
