Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

By Carol

2016 Friday -- Show-off

We were eating dinner, minding our own business, watching the ocean as we do almost all the time, and we noticed some whale activity just directly out in the water beyond the roof of our neighbor's house. We were seeing a fin slapping the water.

Then just to the south beyond the other neighbor's house, over and over we began to see the tail fin of another whale. I grabbed my phone and began to continuously click, hoping I would capture a worthwhile image. What I've posted here is far from superior, but it does convey a bit of what we were seeing.

There are moments that I think we waste a lot of time looking at the ocean, an amazing part of God's creation, and then I realize we now, as of the last week-and-a-half have youngsters walking past our place and walking through downtown staring at their phones playing Pokémon Go; they don't seem to realize they are at the beach. They are missing the wonder of the waves and surfers catching a ride and all the nature here. I think I'll continue to choose watching for whales (and dolphin, otters, and seals, as well as fishing boats, sailboats, and kayaks) over Pokémon.
