A real trooper

About two weeks ago, Emmy, our swimmer, was sitting in her lifeguard chair at the pool when she felt a lump in her throat. It turned out to be a mass on her thyroid. Today she had surgery to remove both the mass and the thyroid. We are proud of all our grandchildren for the adults they are becoming, but tonight I am especially proud of Emmy. She is a real trooper, and she even managed to smile for the camera. Today was also her mom's birthday, and she said she got the only gift she wanted. Kudos to Emmy and Happy Birthday, Alison!
