Squinancywort
I had a day off today, which was wonderful, especially as I spent some of it with some of my lovely friends I see altogether too infrequently.
Later in the afternoon I went for a trip back to Box Hill to see the butterflies, but by the time I got there it was warm, but very cloudy and I only saw 2 Marbled whites, quite a change from the 200+ I saw last week!
This is Squinancywort Asperula cynanchica, a tiny and pretty little flower of the Bedstraw family which gets it's common name from it's former use as a medicinal herb to cure quincy.
As an extra I have added a picture of Snowberry, which was also flowering beautifully!
