Arrived safely in Lyon where border controls had been reintroduced after last night's attack in Nice. Miss L was due to join us after flying from Edinburgh and taking the train from Charles de Gaulle. However, she forgot to get off the train in Valence, so Mme A has just left on a 300km round trip to Nimes!

L says that her case had been moved (the train was full) and by the time she'd found it the train doors had closed again. Never been so scared in her life!

The body of my PhD supervisor has been found, thankfully, 7 weeks after he failed to come back from the hills.
