Batley History

I headed over to Batley after work to join local historian Malcolm Haigh for his 3-hour tour of the town centre and Station Road area. Malcolm who worked as a reporter for the Yorkshire Post always has some fascinating tales to tell about the area.

Here he is at the memorial to Benjamin Law at Batley Parish Church. The inventor of "shoddy" cloth on which the town's prosperity grew. Both Malcolm and myself are direct descendants of Mr Law.
