Holyrood Abbey

This spectacular ruin lies adjacent to Holyrood Palace at the foot of the Royal Mile - the entrance fee to visit the palace is worth it just to see this beautiful piece of architecture.  Founded in the 12th century, the abbey has lain in ruin since the 18th century.
