Urban wildlife
I've walked miles of the banks of the River Severn for the last 16 years, and haven't seen a heron for two summers, and then too dark for a decent shot. The last good shot I got was at least two years ago, about three miles south of town. Today I came to Corby, with a tiny lake in the middle of town, built as a boating lake but now a fisher-person's paradise, and find a pair sitting perfectly still on an island in the middle of the water. When I passed by some four hours later, they were still sitting peacefully. I wanted to go to the other side and shout at them, just to see that wonderful take-off. Tomorrow maybe.
