My Long Term Memory

Oulanka National Park

Wednesday morning we started well: first to spa for swim and sauna, then to breakfast. Top of it was waffle grill.
We started our road trip and drove 30km back to visit The Kuusamo Predator Centre, where one private citizen has adopted orphan bear cups, foxes, lynxes and wolf dogs. There were also reindeers.
Animals were kept well in huge forest yards, with double fencing. You weren't aloud to move there without tour guide at all. The guide was nice though, she kept feeding the animals with different treats, so all the animals came near the fence.
It was unreal feeling to stand only 1 meter away from huge 400kg male bear!
The Bears of course has been their whole life near humans, and their "mom" , a man called Sulo had spend time with them many years.

After this we drove back to Kuusamo Centre to buy some food for later. We had booked small cabin by lake Ala-Juumajärvi, near to Oulanka National Park most famous hiking route Pikku Karhunkieros.

At the cabin we unpacked our car, grilled and went hiking.
Four hour hike (15km) in very difficult forest was so fun! Along the route are most beautiful rivers, lakes, rocky hills and swamps. Highest point we were was over 2000m.

After the hike we made evening swim in lake, grilled some food and went to bed.

Wonderful day!
