Over Yonder

My Dear Fellow,

This is the cemetery behind St. Cuthbert's church at the West End.

I always enjoy the light in there, and the fact that it is calm and quiet as you step off the bustle of Lothian Road.

Back in the days of demutualisation, I would often slope off out of Slack at lunchtime and try to clear my head by spending some time in here. There is nothing like eternity to put things into perspective, plus there are squirrels running about with big fluffy tails.

Also, it is like only FIVE MINUTES to the hot dog stand in Princes Street Gardens from here.

But no. I was there for the contemplation.

Parsones

p.s. The title comes from a song in which Natalie Merchant sings about how she likes the peace of a cemetery too. She does not mention squirrels but I am sure that is just an oversight.
