Fast and Furious

It's been a batten down the hatches day today as a Nor'West gale has slammed into us here on the side of the mountain, causing the house to shake and the animals to hunker down.

Further down the road towards Tekapo a bus was blown off the road and there's travel advisories about driving conditions between South Canterbury and Christchurch. 

Being stuck inside (because high winds and hobbling on crutches are not the easiest of bedfellows) I took this shot of the eucalypts down below the house getting pummelled by the huge gusts.
