By the Wayside

We did our bird survey this morning - starting at 5:30am. It was quite quiet, and we saw only a few of our target birds. My top sighting was a family of 4 Woodcock which I flushed from the side of the path. I got quite a good view of one in particular, but I was really disappointed that I didn't have my camera in my hand (because I was holding a clipboard for recording). There were quite a lot of Brown Hares around. This one, which looks to be blind, at least in the eye on the side facing, was also sitting right by the path.
