Too long

Back to work after a week off today.

The journey home was on one of Thameslink's new 12 carriage trains, all part of the Thameslink 2000 project (yes, due for completion in 2000, so only a little late). They have the same number of seats, but more space for luggage (or standing passengers, since there weren't enough seats on an 8 carriage train).

On arrival in Luton it was announced that my carriage (No 11) wouldn't be opening its doors as the platform was too short. Strange that, since the whole point of the project was to provide 12 carriage length platforms to cope with 12 carriage trains.
