A Visit to School

Today Joshua and I went on a visit to the school where I taught Music before going on maternity leave. We had a lovely day seeing friends, colleagues and pupils, and attending the annual carol service which is always a wonderful occasion. Joshy mostly behaved extremely well, though he grizzled a bit during 'O Come All Ye Faithful', and enjoyed the ride in his sling between school and church.

I don't miss the stress and pressure of school at all, but I so much do miss the warmth and camaraderie of the staff room and music department at this time of year in particular. It was lovely, if strange, to be able to sit back and listen to all that beautiful music without having to stand up and conduct the choir and orchestra on this occasion.

Joshua is pictured above with Sarah, my best friend at school, who welcomed us warmly into her office today with all our assorted paraphernalia and let me feed and change him in there, making our first full day out together so much easier. She is incredibly hard-working and gives an enormous amount to the school, and if there's anyone who deserves the Christmas holidays, it's her!
