........proof positive............
It's a well known fact that I don't have a heart, just a swinging brick...........but this proves that I do have a brain.
Went for the scan today.....the lovely Jen took me and held my hand......still not the most pleasant experience.....but a real contrast to the first attempt.
Greeted at the door...brand new premises...smiles from the staff....coffee for Jen as I was led away.......didn't need to get changed at all....scan room was a restful shade of green...the machine was pale blue (City colours...but you can't have everything)......the head restraint wasn't at all restrictive, lined with soft material........a face mask was needed but it only had a chin bar and a forehead bar and it was well above my face.....moved in between the two walls of the machine........a nice picture of Autumn trees to look at on the ceiling.......radio 2 on the headphones.........a commentary detailing each scan, what to expect, how noisy, how long it would last.....3 brain scans done, 4 minutes each.
A break...........iced water........head restraint taken away......neck plate in.back into the machine.....2 neck scans.and then the voice said "you don't look very comfortable, I'm going to try something else"....out of the scanner..neck plate removed...big soft cushion under head and neck.........a loose collar put round neck............back in........4 more scans.
Finito Benito!..........a gentle, slow return to an upright position..a comfy chair.......coffee.......a disc of the scans in case I want a second opinion.free pen............escorted to the exit.
While I was in the machine I asked how many open scanners there are...the radiologist only knew of five!.......none in Scotland or Wales........why is there one in the grounds of Manchester Airport?........because there isn't one in Ireland so they fly over here........ A quick google reveals that there are more than 5, but less than 10!
So............all told a couple of hours..........9 scans done............no panic.......feel much better tonight than I did last Tuesday....now it's just waiting for the results on Thursday evening.
Das vidanya moy padruga.
Forgot to mention that as we were leaving the receptionist asked me to visit their fb page....and like them!
