Sitting Pretty

Never mind all the wonderful countryside we were rewarded with today in the North Dales of Yorkshire today, being driven around like royalty by our friend and 'chauffeur' and his wife, with the courtesy titles of the Hon.Lord Bruce and Lady Carole, I thought this blip of the outside toilet arrangement at the highest pub in England at Tan Hill, to be worthy of a blip.

We had a comprehensive tour of Yorkshire from Thirsk in the south to Barnard Castle in the north, taking in Richmond for elevenses, Kirkby Stephen for afternoon tea and back to Thirsk for supper.

In between for the benefit of blipper Connections, we passed through Keld, Muker, Gunnerside, Reeth, Thwaite, Grinton , Leyburn and Midlem.

We drove up tortuous narrow roads, across barren moorlands and down dales dotted with stone barns in fields separated by meandering dry stane dykes. We started with rain and ended in sunshine, and as I write just after 9pm the sun has lit up the Whitestone cliff of Sutton Bank and the fields on the hill outside our cottage window. The two horses in the paddock outside the door are having their mad half hour as they chase each other around with much head tossing and tail switching.
The end of a perfect day for them and for us.
