Those flowers again
The first Monday after the holiday.
My car had to go into the garage this morning for a 4 day make-over to deal with some rust on the chrome (warranty) and a scratched side (my error). There was a courtesy car waiting for me, but could I find my driving licence? It took me about 20 minutes, by which time I was hot and bothered.
The car went in and I picked up some extra fruit and veg.
Back home to do a few of the regular chores. A short intermission to watch the antics of a grey squirrel attempting (and failing) to acquire peanuts.
The remnants of the famous chicken (from Saturday) were made into chicken and mushroom soup. We enjoyed that for lunch.
It fortified us for the inevitably long wait at the hearing aid clinic at Hexham General. This was the easiest and shortest wait we have had. (We were there for 2 hours in total.) Our wait was quite tolerable. First our neighbour, Maurice, appeared. He had lost a hearing aid yesterday so came to order a new one. He stayed and chatted with us. Then I had Words with Friends on my iPad so we could continue a game against the computer.
I also put diary entries from my electronic diary into a paper one. I have given up the electronic one, having tried hard to use it this year. Back to losing the paper one I'm afraid.
The audio technician was delightful. Mum had new molds made and she is to have stronger hearing aids.
Back home to field several phone calls. One was from the Russian visa people to say that the new document, sent from Russia, said we wanted multiple entries and not single entry. Which was correct? The delightful Alexei was very helpful and accepted my answer over the 'phone. Phew!
Quizzy Mondays are back, so we have enjoyed University Challenge and Only Connect.
The flowers I bought the other day (and blipped) are just fabulous. The gladioli flowers have come out, larger and intensely coloured. The sunflower centres are glistening with drops of fluid. I could not resist photographing them again.
