Northiam nuances
Bouyed by my first attempt at a collage about beach huts I was minded to have another go today while down at Northiam Station on the KESR manning the crossing gates.
Northiam Station is a quiet, country station towards the far end of the line from Tenterden to Bodiam but its tranquility is set to end over the next few years when it will become an important intermediate station once the line from Bodiam onwards to Robertsbridge.
On summer Sundays however, it is busier than usual as the Sunday Lunch dining train, the Wealdon Belle departs from here taking diners on a luxury ride through the Kent and Sussex countryside while enjoying their lunches in the Pullman carriages.
So this, I think, is all about destinations. Which is not surprisng owing to it being a railway. Posh travel, travel to interesting places but also the end of these travel opportunities with the eventual closure of the line in the 1950s.
