Pitmedden

After a rotten, rainy day yesterday, today has been glorious - a real Goldilocks day: sunny , still, not too hot and not too cold. Went up to Pitmedden forest which is a beautiful area just above Abernethy. Loads going on. The deer at the centre of the photo didn't notice my stealthy approach although I couldn't get any closer without disappearing into a bog. What you can't see in this picture is its fawn which was lying close by but underneath a bush. Lots of ringlet and common blue butterflies and one meadow brown. Quite a few large dragonflies too but they didn't settle long enough to be photographed.
