Back in Form

Ozzie was so pathetic yesterday that we were really quite worried about him, but Amy came up with some doggie glucosamine and an antinflammatory and he seemed quite recovered this morning. We had a quick visit from my brother Rick's stepdaughter who lives near Matt and Amy and wasn't able to make the trip down to Rick's house which was the next stop on our agenda. She is a personal assistant to Jim Cameron (of Titanic and Avatar fame) and she and Julia had a wonderful conversation about television. Kristin is a lovely person and it was nice that she made the effort to come by and catch up.

OilMan suggested that I ride with Matt down to Rick's house in Fallbrook, (Northeast of San Diego) so that he and Ozzie could listen to sports talk radio in peace. I got to listen to Matt talk on the phone to a potential business partner while he simultaneously 1)filled the car with gas, 2) drove through a complicated maze of Southern California freeways and 3) consulted a phone app which was giving him directions. Not restful….It was lovely to get to Rick's and find OilMan and Ozzie in the pool. 

Amy, who stayed home to make sure that Claire gets to Junior Lifeguards 
at 6:30 tomorrow morning and Julia gets to her summer camp counselor job at 8 tomorrow called to tell us that,we had managed to leave Ozzie's bed. We instructed her to trash the bed, which is extremely difficult to wash and went out and bought him another one. 

Rick made a delicious paella for dinner. We were joined by his daughter Annie, her daughter Emma and Emma's cousin Lucilla. who live in Italy and stay in Annie and Davide's condo in Solana Beach every summer. There is never enough to spend quality time with several branches of Rick's 'blended family' but we got a good start today….
