Quiet
There was a bit of a stressful thrash to finish the puzzle before they all left before noon. Tatum and Nik jointly put in the last piece about 10 minutes before taking off! Thank goodness! ( The blip is a couple of minutes before that…) Of course it was a beautiful day on the day they leave, after 3 pretty dismal ones..
Then it was time to collapse !— didn’t really nap but spent time horizontal finishing my book (Etta and Otto and Russell and James—so good—about aging friends ….it felt like poetry with some magical realism thrown in). It’s not that the kids weren't good —they’re kids… but it’s really hard for me , a serious introvert who also grew up an only child, to not have quiet time to replenish all that energy that goes out…(and the cooking doesn't help). Even the 6 year old was happy almost every minute and had a great time but incessant talking all day every day wears me down! The girls were happy wth the crummy weather as they really aren’t keen on boating too much… altho Nik and Tatum did get out after dinner in the inflatable a few nights just to “hang out”.(one of their favorite things to do here...) Oskar was still sick when his parents got here yesterday but rallied a bit today. Not sure what he’s got…that no one else got. So… a different camp this year without him doing much for 3 days but watching his screen, and Fiona to liven up every moment ..., but I know they had fun.
Then I had to go for a row.. alone…in some wind…seals, heron, water, peace… Then H and I just sat on the beach before dinner and stared at the water. (“attitude adjustment time” :-) ) I heard a splash.. and just managed to get this not so good photo of the ospreys the sparkling water ..(the extra)
Hope to get back to commenting… just didn’t have the energy for more “conversations” but I do appreciate the comments, stars and hearts for someone's else's grandchild camp. thank you, this week will be different!
