Cley church

A concert at Cley church organised by Norfolk Wildlife Trust.  We were playing lots of bird stuff, such as Respighi's "The Birds" and "The Lark Ascending" by Vaughan Williams.  Cley is a fabulous spot on the North Norfolk coast, a great haunt for bird watchers.

Included in the bottom right corner of the Great West Window is an image of a White-Crowned Sparrow.  This bird is American, and has only been seen a handful of times in the UK - one such occasion was in 2008, when one of these birds spent 10 weeks living in and around a garden in Cley.  The visiting birdwatchers contributed to a collection for the church, and when the money was used to repair the window, the sparrow was immortalised in stained glass from a design by a local artist - Richard Millington.

Cley church is extravagantly large, reflecting the fact that when it was built, Cley was a wealthy harbour.

There is an art exhibition on at the church.  Some of the exhibits were quite weird - I've included a couple in the collage.  But there was one in particular that I would love to give house room - called "Sitting Ducks" - by Judith Campell.
