Beach hut detail

Having gone to the gym this morning Susan suggested that it would be pleasant to go to Whitstable and stroll along the coast through the town, which turned out to be a walk of over 4.5 miles in the end. The tide was up for a change, which covered the mudflats that extend a considerable distance towards Essex at low tide.

Always enjoy Whitstable, some lovely houses mixed in with smaller properties together with beach huts and other less well tended places. The harbour is always an interesting place too with working fishing boats, fishermens huts, cafes and a fishmonger. We stopped to a cup of tea overlooking the harbour, enjoying the scene before moving on towards Tankerton.

One or two beach huts were for sale, the cheapest being a fiver below £20,000 and for that you were on the second row separated from the seashore by a public footpath and another row of huts.

The walk provided an opportunity to put into practice on of the ideas we tried on the photography course in Lyme Regis in June; that of trying to capture the story of beach huts. I don't usually do collages but this idea lent itself to a simple 4 shot compostion. Some huts were colourful, some entertaining, others had interesting names and one was not cared for at all.

The extras include one beach hut shot I didn't use together with a few shots of the Taser Class dinghies coming in with a brisk offshore wind behind them resulting in some fun and games as they reached the beach. Today and this weekend is the Taser national championships at Whitstable which explains all the boats and activity.

As I created the collage on 9th July it uploaded the shot on that date instead of for the 8th, which is why the same shot is here twice until I do something about it later. 52 views of the original posts and 4 comments.
