Beautiful Cromarty
We spent a wonderful afternoon exploring over 20 Gardens in Cromarty as part of their Open Gardens. So interesting seeing gardens that are hidden behind the houses that we found out about in last weeks talk and walk.
Lots of hard work must have been done to create such beautiful gardens. ThIs one, just up The Paye ,was one of our favourites. It felt very peaceful and not over manicured with rambling flowers mixed with fruit and veg. Plus there was a free massive strawberry :) The owner had suffered from a stroke so even more impressive to be able to look after a garden on a slope. He finds it very therapeutic and I can understand why !
Nearly every garden came with surprises from one with a woodland walk with views to the Cromarty Firth to another, the Old Orchard, that is completely hidden by a large wall and as the name suggests has apple trees with lots of varieties.
We were so lucky that the weather was kind and it stayed dry until we had visited the last garden. It has poured ever since !
We managed to fit in a Cream tea at The Pantry , very nice and we could nt eat it all so have a few cakes left for tomorrow.
It was also the church Flower Festival an art show so it was good to have a look around there as well.
Well Done to Serena Williams who won her 22nd grand slam title at Wimbledon this afternoon, her 7th Wimbledon win and looks likely she may win another in the doubles with her sister.
