Messing about on the river
A very pleasant day so far. We had a drive over towards Oxford and called at the Trout at Wolvercote for lunch. It's in a beautiful spot right next to the Thames, the food is good and there was a guitarist and saxophonist on the terrace to entertain the guests. The only let down was the service; all the staff were charming but a little disorganised; half an hour after we had finished our main course we were still waiting to be asked if we would like a dessert so we gave it up as a bad job and got the bill. We still enjoyed it though, and were even given a free drink each when they realised it was my birthday.
Afterwards we had a walk along the river for a mile or so to walk off the food, and spotted these horses on the opposite bank. I can't pretend the walk was too energetic; too warm and humid for that!
