Ice Gem or Marble?

This rose in my front garden reminds me of the ice gem sweets you can get but also the centre of a glass marble.

This morning I spent a few hours on my allotment. I haven't mentioned it much for a number of reasons. 

Firstly it has been suffering from too much water, often flooding. Now it is hard as rock. Some of the things I did manage to plant has just become food for slugs and snails.

Secondly I have been away quite a bit and between times the weather hasn't been ideal for working down there. It got a good tidy up today.

Thank you for your comments etc for yesterday's weeds/wildflowers. I thought there would be a reaction in defence of their status. ;o)
