Day 3 Prarayer - Aosta Refuge 2,781m

Back up to the glacier zone again, this was the most primitive hut we stayed in, but the most authentic and friendly. It reminded me of how huts were in the Alps when I used to do this 40 years ago. However the signpost to the hut was totally wrong and we ended up having to do a river crossing to get back onto the right track! I was very glad to cool off my feet in that river (see extra). What should have been a 4 hour walk had become a 5 hour walk, two poor folk followed the wrong track for much longer than us and they got to the hut in the dark!
