That's Life!

Sailing Away (again)

Running for what seems miles into the vast expanse of Lake Ontario, the pier at Port Dalhousie is the longest I have ever encountered (and too far for Jools to walk on one of the hottest days of the year). In fact, it's so long that there are two mini-lighthouses: this one at the entrance and another half way down the pier.

Unfortunately for knackered pedestrians, there is nothing to do when you get to the end. Admire the vastness of the lake; be momentarily entranced by the skill of the people zig-zagging their tiny yachts; then turn round, gaze at the other end of the pier in the hazy far distance, and stagger all the way back to shore.

Why isn't there a boat when you need one?.
