Old Port Lane Cottage

Drove by this cottage and noticed that the auction was scheduled for today.  One of my team's duties is to deal with properties in disrepair, in fact when I got into the office we had been contacted by the auctioneers, very much at the eleventh hour, to query a demolition order placed on this property in the 1970s.

This may sound serious in light of the impending auction, but in most cases these orders were never actioned.  They were served at a time when these properties had very little value and it would have been impossible to carry out the repairs work needed without spending more than the property would be worth afterwards.  How times have changed, nowadays this property will go for more than the cost of a brand new three bed detached house.  The winning bidder has many options, interestingly including demolishing the existing dwelling and constructing a brand new and larger property in its place.
