The Next Generation

Of nursery web spiders safe in their silken tent and blackbird fledglings learning to forage.

I heard the liquid sound of the baby blackbirds through the open door as I was eating my muesli. They haven't yet learnt to be wary of humans.

I photographed the bundle of nursery web spiderlings after a lovely swim with my old friend. They huddle together in a ball but if one shakes their gossamer tent they disperse. The remains of the egg sac can be seen in my pic.
