Reading the map, sort of.

This was my first 'training' walk for my Hadrian's Wall trek in October. Together with two friends we set off from the moors above Rochdale and did about 10 miles. I wanted to see how I managed re fitness, blisters etc.. as well as how my gear would stand up to the rain. I left the map reading to my more experienced friends although it didn't always go smoothly! The terrain was quite tough, mostly because of the recent torrential rain. So there was lots of mud and very boggy sections as well as a couple of reasonably hard climbs. All in all it was enjoyable, my fitness is better than I had expected and most importantly - no blisters!
