Evening light on globe thistle
A quiet day, recovering from the exertions of our Chatsworth trip and a nasty wasp sting on my neck. The morning was spent processing photographs of all the veteran trees we'd surveyed, while in the afternoon Ben and I took the dogs to Ferry Meadows, and enjoyed a cool drink and ice cream at the cafe.
It was good to spend some time with him - during the summer it often seems that he's a bit left out, as he doesn't enjoy fieldwork in the same way as Chris and Alex and so ends up spending quite a bit of time home alone. Still, the end of the season is in sight and all too soon we'll be settling into the autumn routines again.
There was some glorious evening sunshine, and the bees were making the most of this to feed on the globe thistles, which are just coming into bloom now.
