Friendships
My lovely friends Anna and Paul gave me this plant last autumn with hope it might lure a Hummingbird Hawk moth or two into my garden. It hasn't done so yet (but it is a bit early), but even if it doesn't it is a real beauty in it's own right.
The book tells me it is Ceratostigma willmottianum 'Forest Blue' And Thompson and Morgan website has this to say about it.. This popular deciduous shrub well deserves its RHS AGM. Wiry red-tinted stems play host to a profusion of cobalt-blue flowers from August to October. As autumn progresses the green summer foliage turns to vivid shades of burnt orange and red, bringing a welcome splash of colour to fading borders.
A very welcome present, thank you :-)
