Böd of Gremista
The weather forecast for today wasn't so great so we planned a day around town. So far, though, although it is a bit windier and cloudier the sun's still out and the rain's stayed away.
Started with a coffee at the Peerie Shop with Life at 60 Degrees. It was lovely to meet a Shetland-based Blipper so thanks for taking the time.
Went to the textile museum at the Böd of Gremista. My main is an example of beautiful Shetland lace knitting using one ply wool. My extra is an egg cosy which is how children were taught to knit Fair Isle patterns. As well as examples of knitting and weaving from days gone by there was an exhibition of contemporary knitting from all over the world. I'm not a knitter but I can see how much work goes into these garments.
Out tonight for a meal at Hays Dock. Should be good. Hope the rain stays away as gladrags will be worn.
